Clonazepam is a downer belonging to the benzodiazepine class. It works as an allosteric modulator at GABA(A) receptors, enhancing the calming effects of GABA in the brain. It is long lasting which makes it great for tapering off benzo dependency, for treating general anxiety disorders, seizures and convulsions, as well as for killing a psychedelic trip or for attenuating a stimulant comedown. Effects include disinhibition, sedation, muscle relaxation and appetite enhancement. It can also cause false feelings of sobriety which can cause users to redose compulsively which can lead to blackouts due to the drug's memory suppressing effects. As with most downers, it also causes respiratory depression, meaning that it should not be mixed with other downers as it can lead to an accidental overdose.
